Headaches and Migraines Might be Caused by Light Sensitivity (Scotopic Sensitivity, Irlen Syndrome)

Headaches and migraines are experienced by millions of people every day (https://www.ihateheadaches.org/headache-statistics.html.

One little know reason for many headaches and migraines is light sensitivity (scotopic sensitivity, Irlen Syndrome). That means that some brains are sensitive to certain wavelengths of light. Therefore, the brain cannot process the information provided by these wavelengths. The result is that some people get a headache or migraine.

Persons who are sensitive to certain light waves might have inherited the condition. Others may have acquired light sensitivity through head injuries or concussions. Either way, headaches and migraines make it difficult for many people to live life to the fullest. If their headaches and migraines are related to light sensitivity, help is easily available and affordable.

A screener can test an individual to determine whether s/he is sensitive to certain light waves. After the screening, the individual with light sensitivity has several options:

  • do nothing,
  • use colored overlays for reading to filter the offending light waves,
  • visit a diagnostician to be fitted for Irlen Spectral Filters.

Irlen Spectral Filters are unique to the individual and are worn as glasses or contact lenses. Hence, as soon as the person uses overlays or puts on the filters, the person experiences an immediate relief for mind and body. In addition, I hand my clients a couple of colored overlays right away after the screening. That way, they experience immediate relief in the area of reading.
